General terms and conditions of service

This document is a template of general terms and conditions suited to an independent landscape-design practice. It must be reviewed and completed by the publisher (and, where appropriate, by a legal adviser) before final publication online.

1. Purpose

These terms govern the advisory, landscape design and operational support services offered by Atelier Brigitte Dematteis. They apply to any assignment accepted by the client.

2. Services

The Studio offers three types of engagement: advice & audit, full design (plans and photomontages), operational support / site supervision. The exact scope of each engagement is defined in a bespoke quote.

3. Quotes and fees

As every project is unique, fees are set by quotation according to the nature, the complexity and the scope of the mission. Once signed, the quotation constitutes acceptance of these terms.

4. Payment terms

A deposit is required upon signature of the quotation; the balance is settled according to the schedule specified in the quotation. The precise terms (percentages, due dates) are indicated on a case-by-case basis.

5. First conversation

The first telephone conversation devoted to presenting your project is without obligation. It does not mark the start of an assignment. A visit to audit the space to be designed may then be arranged; its terms are set out in the quotation.

6. Ownership of the design studies

The sketches, plans and photomontages remain the intellectual property of Brigitte Dematteis until full payment for the design work. Their distribution or reuse is subject to authorisation.

7. Carrying out the works

The works are entrusted to partner contractors. The studio handles the design and, where applicable, the supervision, but is not the contractor carrying out the works.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought as a priority.
