Whether the garden is small or large, modest or exceptional, the client always has the same doubts, and when I present my proposals, my question is always the same: “which do you prefer?”.
In fact, I do not ask them to imagine, to visualise my hand-drawn sketches; I ask them to look at the different possibilities offered by the photomontages presented…
Whether it is a pool, a basin, an entrance, a gate, a staircase or a garden, my question remains the same: "which do you prefer?".
Light is the simplest and the most complex instrument there is. It gives structure to space. Light is alive, forever creating; we only see it when it is reflected by something ….and that is what makes it magical! This way of working the representation of the future project with shadow and light allows me to present realistic views.
The photomontage is not contractual. The finished result may differ from the representation shown, depending on technical constraints, the choice of materials or the defined budget. However, the spirit of the overall project is preserved as far as possible.
A proposal for integrating a pool in Cabris. So that the client can make up their mind, the photomontages need to be presented as choices that shape the project both aesthetically and financially. Five proposals were put forward to work out which location would be the wisest for building the future pool… on the lower terrace, on a higher terrace, or in a spot further from the house that could allow a pool house to be built? The idea is not simply to compare prices, but to see how each choice influences the visual result, the comfort of use and, of course, the budget.
An entrance always deserves a true landscape staging, for the entrance affirms the identity of the villa. Several proposals were submitted for the gate, but the idea that most caught the owner's attention was to explain to him that the large wall he wished to build to retain the earth was not essential. Endemic planting provided for the purpose achieved substantial savings, which made it possible to propose paving the ground.
Every space tells a story, and it is always rewarding to work with what is already there, to create a new, better-suited place. To create a living space where, at first, there was none. To find the right position, the right proportions, then to choose the material that will give the space its character: the warmth of wood, the elegance of stone or the rhythm of paving…
Dressing an outdoor staircase offers a wealth of possibilities depending on the plants chosen and the harmony sought. Light, natural planting, a structured composition, generous flowering, a play of heights and forms — always in a Provençal style.
An interlude of well-being. With a beautifully crafted ZEN interior, this garden was conceived as the extension of a refined interior. Fitting the SPA into a very constrained space called for precise work on volumes, materials and planting.
A stunning view over the old port of Nice and the cruise liners. The challenge was to create a comfortable, elegant place without competing with the view. When the landscape already offers an exceptional spectacle, the task is to find just the right balance.
